Archer C7 to original firmware
As the title of the post suggest, can just use the online tp-link firmware to go from gargoyle to tp-link strait up? Or I have to use this "dd if=orig.bin of=tplink.bin skip=257 bs=512" to cut it?
Re: Archer C7 to original firmware
Hi Phil,
Sorry for hijacking your thread as I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm about to purchase a Archer C5 or C7 tomorrow and would like some feedback about this router running Gargoyle 1.7.1.
I currently have a WD MyNet N600 that I bought for $5- and it's great with Gargoyle. I use it in AP+Client mode exclusively and I was wondering if the 2.4GHz receiver sensitivity was good on the Archer.
Thanks.

Re: Archer C7 to original firmware
Same problem here. I purchased and flashed my Archer C5 today with v1.7.1 (no 5GHz) and with v1.7.x (no 5GHz). Now on v1.7.x I can't do update firmware or reset to default config.
Any help?

Re: Archer C7 to original firmware
Finally was able to go back to v1.7.1. I had to copy sys upgrade.bin by SCP to /tmp and from there upgraded to v1.7.1.
Once in v1.7.1 I can flash other firmwares (OpenWrt, Tp-Link) as usual
