Hello,
i have 3 Fonera 2100 which I want to reactivate.
I want to use them primary as wifi-bride to bring some LAN-only-device to my wifi (not much traffic, so the low speed interfaces of the fonera are ok).
Because the Foneras shall act as wifi bridge which already was possible in 2007, I think I can use them in 2021.
The intension of flashing a firmware is to have a linux on the device which is maintained.
Because the tutorials i found on the net are very old and many links are down, i have some questions.
first of all:
I have enabled telnet in redboot via serial connection.
2 devices have Fon-Firmware 0.7.1 r3, 1 has 0.7.1 r2
SSH is not enabled within the Fon-firmware.
Which hack can I actually use to enable ssh (kolonium-server down?)?
What is the best way to backup the whole Image if I want to flash it back?
Which Files exactly do I have to download and flash? on www.gargoyle-router[dot]com/download.php (Fonera 2100 has a Atheros AR2315, and there is only offering 1 file:
gargoyle_1.12.0-ath25-generic-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
What about Kernel-File?
redboot-config?
Tools like fonflash what to select 2 files.
Thanks for your help.

oh dear
https://openwrt.org/toh/fon/fonera
I would suggest a serial cable will be required

Many years ago Eric created an application call FonFlash to flash these devices.
You really need to try really old Gargoyle firmware, maybe 1.0 or 1.2

good luck

I already read these links.
I also wrote about serial cable and fonflash
Please have a look at my Screenshots:

How do I handle this?
Do I need a second file?
Re: Fonera 2100 in 2021, which files shall I use
in the meantime, I read many articles, so I answer to myself if someone else have the same problem and read this thread.
for Fonera 2100 and 2200, the newest available version of OpenWRT (gargoyle based on OpenWRT) is codename "Backfire", which is version 10.x of OpenWRT.
https://openwrt.org/toh/fon/fonera#step ... wrt_images
The latest Version of Gargoyle which is using OpenWRT backfire is v 1.5.6
https://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/doku.php?id=1.5.x
All later versions of gargoyle are flashable, but do not work. There are so instable that you can run them. you will notice this after first access to webinterface.
In my view, version 1.4.7 is little bit more stable.
so, you have to decide if you need the features between 1.4.7 and 1.5.6
