Softether support

Post by riodda »

Hi all, i was sucesfouly using softether on OpenWRT on an alix6f board, i'm now moving to Gargoyle but i'm haveing some issues with softether.

I've installed softether from this guide
https://wordpress.tirlins.com/2015/03/s ... n-openwrt/
and all works ok, the package install and the all the tests are passed.
Once i try to connect to the server to set the password of the server with vpncmd i receive the error (Error code: 2) as per below log:

Code: Select all

root@Gargoyle:/etc/init.d# vpncmd
vpncmd command - SoftEther VPN Command Line Management Utility
SoftEther VPN Command Line Management Utility (vpncmd command)
Version 4.21 Build 9613 (English)
Compiled 2016/04/24 15:39:17 by yagi at pc30

By using vpncmd program, the following can be achieved.

1. Management of VPN Server or VPN Bridge
2. Management of VPN Client
3. Use of VPN Tools (certificate creation and Network Traffic Speed Test Tool)

Select 1, 2 or 3: 1

Specify the host name or IP address of the computer that the destination VPN Server or VPN Bridge is operating on.
By specifying according to the format 'host name:port number', you can also specify the port number.
(When the port number is unspecified, 443 is used.)
If nothing is input and the Enter key is pressed, the connection will be made to the port number 8888 of localhost (this computer).
Hostname of IP Address of Destination:

If connecting to the server by Virtual Hub Admin Mode, please input the Virtual Hub name.
If connecting by server admin mode, please press Enter without inputting anything.
Specify Virtual Hub Name:
Error occurred. (Error code: 2)
Protocol error occurred. Error was returned from the destination server.
while both vpncmd check and even the speed test are ok.

Code: Select all

VPN Tools>check
Check command - Check whether SoftEther VPN Operation is Possible
---------------------------------------------------
SoftEther VPN Operation Environment Check Tool

If this operation environment check tool is run on a system and that system passes, it is most likely that SoftEther VPN software can operate on that system. This check may take a while. Please wait...

Checking 'Kernel System'...
              Pass
Checking 'Memory Operation System'...
              Pass
Checking 'ANSI / Unicode string processing system'...
              Pass
Checking 'File system'...
              Pass
Checking 'Thread processing system'...
              Pass
Checking 'Network system'...
              Pass

All checks passed. It is most likely that SoftEther VPN Server / Bridge can operate normally on this system.

The command completed successfully.

I've tryed all the avilalbe builds of sofetether, i made sure that openvpn was off, the softether demon is started of course.
According to the softether docs error code 2 from vpncmd is when it can't connect to the server.
I've tryed to connect to VPN server trou the Windows frontend but i can't connect as well.
Any help is wellcome !!!

I assume you are connecting to port 443 or 8888 from Internet (WAN)? If so, most likely it is your ISP blocking those ports. Check that first.
