External hard drive not showing accurate space

Post by Eds0107 »

Hi. Im a gargoyle newbie and im having a bit of trouble. I have an Archer C7 v2 and I installed the latest ipsy build on it. I attached a 5tb Seagate backup plus to the usb and ran the format to ext4. It mounts the drive but only reports it's size as 45gb. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What % of swap did you choose?
That's a nice round figure of 5-4.5 = 10%?

I tried multiple times with different swap percentages. The result of drive space was always the same number. It wasn't exactly 45 I'm not at home right now to check but it was actually 46 or 47 point something. I just rounded to 45.

If I remove the drive afterwards and plug it into my windows pc, disk management shows 46 or 47gb(whatever the number was) as primary and the rest as unallocated.

Hmmm...I just has a thought that I'll have to look into. I always put in really tiny numbers for the swap %. Maybe my swap and storage space are backwards and it only formatted the amount I put in for swap.

Thinking about the math of the hard drive actually only being around 4.5tb and the numbers I put in for the swap %, I think think that's got to be it. Thank you for making me think about my percentages being a problem!
