Just flash ver 1.8.1 on my Buffalo WZR-600DHP using tftp.
I used the following file: gargoyle_1.8.1-ar71xx-generic-wzr-hp-ag300h-squashfs-tftp
Just wanted to say thank you and if anyone needs help let me know.
I installed this because DD-WRT QoS was not working at all. Didn't seem to do anything with manual firewall scripts either. Also tried OpenWRT but that was a PITA to get QoS working. So far, Gargoyle seems to be working and I love how status information is presented. Thanks again!

I also use a Buffalo router and agree that in terms of QoS (and ease of use) Gargoyle is way better than stock DD-WRT. In my testing, DD WRT and OpenWRT QoS "somewhat works" (gives some users way too much bandwidth leaving others high and dry), but Gargoyle's QoS is way more precise and easier to use.
To start I also had to install Gargoyle via TFTP but since then Gargoyle firmware updates have been super easy.

QoS Tip: Don't complicate your QoS settings. Gargoyle evenly splits available bandwidth between active devices as needed. Just delete all your classification rules and leave only one normal service class and you're done. No more arguing over bandwidth.

I also had to install via tftp and could only get it working using the bootloader? MAC address 02-aa-bb-cc-dd-20. Using the actual MAC address would not allow me to flash. I'm loving the DNS ad blocking as well as actual working QoS.
One of the roommates this morning said they couldn't get over 1.5 Mbps on speedtest.
That's what you get for having icloud constantly downloading on your computer and uploading from your phone killing my internet.

That mac address sounds familiar to me, haha (I have three Buffalo routers that I flashed with Gargoyle).msimindlessmsi wrote:I also had to install via tftp and could only get it working using the bootloader? I love Adblock, too! It comes in very handy on smartphones since it speeds up loading of websites.
I agree that iCloud (and in our case, more often Google Photos) kills your Internet without QoS because they take up the maximum amount of upload bandwidth. Ever since I set-up Gargoyle QoS, I've had NOT ONE complaint about Internet speed in a family of four Internet users on a 10Mbps line. Complaints were constant before. So in a way Gargoyle has helped me save hundreds of dollars by not having to upgrade my Internet plan.

That's where I was at basically as well. Dang iCloud sucking all the bandwidth making my ping about 500 ms lol. This person takes a lot of photos/videos so the bandwidth usage was constant.
