USB Drive - Problems setting up CIFS accss

Post by Elecmuso »

I'm using the latest version (1.9.0.2) with a TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v3. Works great, except I have had problems setting up a USB drive.
Some details already in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2338
Anyway FTP works fine but not suitable for VNC access (as far as I can tell)
NFS is not an option for the OS I'm using (Home Premium)

So I'd like to get CIFS to work. But so far I have not been able to.

The network drive appears in Windows 7 with it's name and underneath the word 'share', but when I try to access it it responds with Enter Network Password. When I enter the password I set up for the user I get the message 'Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password'.

It turns out that FTP works with an anonymous login, but not when it it set up to require a username / password.

So I tried a different computer that was running W7 Pro. And it worked! Must be the operating system I decide...
Then I try the computer running W7 Home Premium that wasn't working yesterday. Turns out it IS now!
Beats me.
