Should the NetGear 3700v2 be able to keep up with 200Mbps?

Post by kcantrel »

I just recently upgraded my internet connection to a 200Mbps speed, but unfortunately apparently my NetGear 3700v2 (running Gargoyle version 1.4.7) can't keep up. It was fine at 100Mbps, but now that I have upgraded, if I run a speed test, if it even finishes, it tops out a 137Mbps. However, if I directly connect my laptop to the cable modem, it actually goes to 217Mbps. Note these are all "wired" connections.

Should the NetGear WNDR 3700v2 be able to keep up? Or, is it a problem with the Gargoyle firmware? I enabled 'ssh' and did notice "overruns" on the eth0 and eth1 interfaces, but they didn't go up when I recreated the problem (i.e. running the speed test).

Any thoughts or ideas how to fix/diagnose this will be greatly appreciated.

No it won't be able to keep up. Not with the monitoring tools from gargoyle operating at the same time.

So, is there any way to turn off the monitoring tools? I never use them anyway.

Or, if there isn't a way to turn off the monitoring tools, what is the best way (or is there a way) to revert back to the factory firmware? Can I just download the latest firmware from NetGear and install it from Gargoyle? Or, do you think even the factory firmware won't be able to keep up?

Thanks!

Turning them off effectively neuters gargoyles core functionality.

I'm not familiar with return to stock procedures but if you search for your model number on the openwrt wiki I'm sure it will be available there

As to whether stock will keep up, I'm not sure.
