Adding USB Storage post flashing
Hi All,
Only recently flashed 1.8.0 to a Ubiquiti AirRouter (8mb flash)
Looks really good but in order to unleash additional functionality I believe I need to add USB storage and install some plugins.
I've searched the forum but cannot appear to find the procedure for this.
Can someone please share the procedure with me ?
If the AirRouter cannont support USB (as it doesn't in factory fw) I can use a tplink tl-740N instead
Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Adding USB Storage post flashing
With 8mb Flash you should have space for a few smaller plugins as is.
If the router has a USB port then plug in a USB flash drive and change the plugin-root to the usb drive
Gargoyle - System - Plugins - Plugin Options - Change Plugin Root
Refresh Plugins
Install plugins
Enjoy

Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

Ok, maybe im going mad but i do not have the menu 'Change Plugin Root" available. I only see the ability to 'Add plugin Source" and Refresh
Am i doing something stupid here or is the interface hidden on the AirRouter ?

It has a physical USB port and factory does not support it??foxyboy wrote:If the AirRouter cannont support USB (as it doesn't in factory fw)
In Gargoyle plugins, you should be able to change plugin root to the usb if you have a usb plugged in. Try rebooting with the usb plugged in.

Re: Adding USB Storage post flashing
Correct, the AirRouter has a USB port but doesn't use it with the factory firmware.
I already have rebooted with USB stick inserted but it made no difference. Its a Kingston 16GB, formatted with NTFS.
Are there specific formatting requirements ?
thanks

Like that is really weird!foxyboy wrote:Correct, the AirRouter has a USB port but doesn't use it with the factory firmware.
@Lantis may be able to tell you if the USB support is omitted from that build; and how to include it.

Re: Adding USB Storage post flashing
You can probably just install the USB-storage plugin from gargoyle and you'll be up an running.
If that works, I can migrate the router into the USB build script.

Re: Adding USB Storage post flashing
There in lies the problem
I don't appear to have enough memory to install the USB-storage plugin, although i believed it should have worked out of the box
https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/ubiquiti/airrouter
I have only installed the base firmware. I wonder has the installation not gone 100% to plan ? I will capture the Plugins page later and post screenshot.
