D-Link DIR825 C1 Support

Post by rleishman »

Hi Gargoyle experts. This software looks amazing and I'm keen to use it.

I have a D-Link DIR825, but it's the C1 version, not the B1/B2 version that has enjoyed Gargoyle support for some time.

On the OpenWRT site, C1 is supported since Barrier Breaker, whereas B1 was supported since Attitude Adjustment.

Code: Select all

VER SUPPORTED SINCE
A1 not supported
B1 Kamikaze trunk	working with trunk as of r18621
B2 Kamikaze trunk	working with trunk as of r25121
B1/2 Attitude Adjustment
C1 Barrier Breaker trunk r35403
Here in the Gargoyle forums, Eric has told us that v1.8.0 supports Barrier Breaker, and sure enough, there is a download for the DIR825 C1: gargoyle_1.8.0-ar71xx-generic-dir-825-c1-squashfs-factory.bin

So it looks good, right? What's my problem? The Gargoyle download page lists that firmware file (above) under the search for Atheros AR71XX. Now while the DIR825 B1 had the Atheros AR7161 CPU, the C1 uses the Atheros AR9344 (see below from OpenWRT)

Code: Select all

HW Rev CPU Ram Flash
B1/B2	Atheros AR7161@680MHz	64MB	8MB
C1 Atheros AR9344@560MHz	128MB 16MB
I just want to make sure: does Gargoyle 1.8.0 really support the DIR825 C1, and it was mistakenly filed under Atheros AR71XX? Or has there been some kind of typo and it will brick my router?

Its just the way its organised. It gets compiled as part of the ar71xx suite of routers so it gets placed in the same folder.
