ETA for CC

Post by pmerrill »

What's the ETA for Chaos Calmer? I tried CC 15.05 released in Sept and it performed really well (wireless is fixed on TP-Link WDR4300) but the user interface is really poor. I don't really want to learn the full details of UCI and iptables to be able to configure some simple firewall rules. I also tried to confiure it to use OpenDNS but had no luck. I'm pretty sure it works but the crap one has to go through to get it working is unbelievable.

It is hoped to be completed by the end of September.
It is however a substantial update so this may change.

Excellent! A Sept/Oct release is fine with me. With raw CC I had 150Mbits/sec on 2.4 to my Nexus 6 versus only about 60Mbits/sec with BB.

One suggestion (though not sure how much difference it will make), it would be good from Gargoyle to be able to set the max distance that WiFi needs to work. I believe it's the "distance" variable in uci. While I know one can go in and change this via ssh, it may be useful for general users to be able to set it to optimise performance.
