Accidentally set IP to 192.168.1.0... Can't access router

Post by Jbastelli »

Hello,

I just flashed Gargoyle for the first time and made an egregious error. In the initial setup I accidentally set the router IP to 192.168.1.0.

I am connected to the WiFi and via Ethernet successfully, and my computer accurately recognizes the router IP, but when I try to access the router via the web, SSH, or telnet I get errors (permission denied from SSH and telnet, and ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED from Chrome).

I tried hard resetting with 10 sec and 30/30/30. No dice.

Any suggestions as to how to change the IP to a normal address would be helpful! Thank you!

Joey

Figured it out.

Never ever set an IP to that address! If you mistakenly did so, set your computer to manual IP configuration, with a subnet mask of 255.255.254.0. This will set your subnet to 192.168.1.0/23, allowing you to access 192.168.1.0 as a valid IP.

Glad you're sorted. In the future a "30/30/30" does nothing.
"Firstboot" is the recovery process on openwrt.
