Internet Dropouts

Post by wolfweb »

Just setup new router and loaded Gargolye. Everything working. Except the Internet keeps dropping out at random times. Might be a few minutes, might be 15 minutes or even a bit longer.

The router is connected to a satellite modem.

Internet LED on router continues to flash but PC connected via cable loses internet access, also Ipad loses internet access.

To get the internet access back I just reboot the router and it works again for a random amount of time. But not for very long.

LED on modem keeps flashing, until I turn the router off. Then starts again as soon as I restart the router and I then have internet access again on all devices.

I don't get Internet dropouts using a different router not running gargolye. Would like to sort this out as the bandwidth monitoring and quota is why I want to use Gargolye.

Any idea why this is happening?

Running win7 with TPLink WRB41N v9

There is a lengthy discussion on a similar problem in this thread:

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =11&t=6769

There was no resolution - but a number of things to try....
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

Thanks but I don't see my router image in that new build, closest I can see is:

gargoyle_1.7.x-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr842n-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

but I am using a tl-wr841n

I am currently running this :

gargoyle_1.7.1-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr841n-v9-squashfs-factory.bin

So can't see how to proceed. Or am I getting it wrong somehow?

Hi in that build there was a bug that did not build all the files for all routers pleas hang tight and a new build will be coming soon.

Looks like new build with my model. Tried it, still no good. Net drops out even faster if anything. Reverted back to makers firmware and it's fine so not an issue my end as far as i can tell. Thanks anyway.

Same here,Gargoyle 1.6.2 on TPlink tl-wr941nd configured as CLIENT+AP
connecting wireless to Cisco modem, wireless router.
Internet works but drops after random time, sometimes simple 'windows
troubleshoot problems' works but sometimes i have to restart TPlink.
Moving away IP of second and first router somehow solved the loss of internet, now internet on Gargoyle router drops less often but still many, many times a day.
Router 1 is 192.168.0.1 router 2(Gargoyle) was 192.168.1.1 now i changed IP to 192.168.12.1 for second router.
Same thing was when trying the bridge mode.
Should i try to flash some older version of gargoyle ?

Looks like flashing down firmware to ver. 1.4.7 solved internet drops,or it was DHCP drops on CLIENT + AP situation.Works all day without single problem for now.I see lot of problems on the forum with 1.6.2 version,is it possible that it is unstable ?
