Router not starting mr3420 v2

Post by niraj »

Hello,
My router is not functioning.
I did the following..
1) Install gargoyle firmware 1.6.2 (Sucessful)
2) Upgrade gargoyle firmware to 1.7.0(Sucessful)
3) Downgrade to gargoyle firmware 1.6.2(Sucessful)
4) Tried to restore config. of 1st install (Unsucessful)

My Router is TL-MR3420 V2
My PC operating System is Win 7 64Bit

Right now after starting my router the Sys - Led keeps on blinking (Stuck on it)

Tried to boot in failsafe. After following the procedure on this blog, I get upto a point when SysLED starts to blink with high rate. However, I cannot telnet to 192.168.1.1 it gives me error connection through port 23 failed.

Is it because I should use a crossover cable to connect my Router to my PC or some other step.
I am total newbie.

Please Help me start my Router.

Looks like you brick your router because you tried to restore your configuration on a non-compatible ROM by not reading instructions and warnings.

No, you don't need cross-cover cable.
Sounds like you didn't enter failsafe mode or you didn't manually assign IP address to your computer if you can't telnet into your router.

When you manage to telnet into your bricked router, just type
firstboot
reboot

And your router should be working.. it is bricked only due to incorrect configuration files used.

PM me if you need to buy Gargoyle router in Australia/NZ, willing to pay me to help you on your Gargoyle configurations or build custom configured ROM with pre-installed app or try to fix your bricked router. Yes, I am looking for job/work.
