Can't log onto wrt54gl using default ip router addy

Post by phreakwenci »

I'm trying to change the AP the router connects to, but I can't connect to it via wireless it's currently on or via LAN. the stock IP for it was 192.168.1.111 but that no longer works, and the reset button on the back does nothing. So I can't perform a hard reset (which if a firmware limitation seems a bit foolish). The DHCP has apparently changed my routers IP, so how do I access it at all?

OpenWRT does not support reset to factory defaults. It has something more fancy - a fail safe mode, in which the router boots into factory defaults, but all settings are still there. You can fix what was broken and don't need to reenter all other settings again.

I honestly don't know how the fail safe mode works in Gargoyle UI - probably it doesn't... So you will have to use SSH to fix your config...
