New router better?

Post by AVC »

Hi guys,
so far no joy with getting quotas to work with the WRT54G 1.1

I do note that on the Supported Harware list is the TP-Link TL-WR841ND, available at my local store for a mere $29.

Would this be a better unit to run Gargoyle on, or do the older units tend to be more bullet proof (sort of like using a Ford Toploader)?

Cheers

Andy

yes it is a bit better than the wrt54g but it still has just 4 mb flash here the link for openwrt wiki http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd
If i were you i wood spend a tad more and get something with at leest 8 mb or more of flash to be a little bit future proof.

Future proof as in for later versions of Gargoyle?

I'm really only using it as a WAP.

I could go with the WR841N, the list of supported routers states the v1.5 is good to go. 8MB of flash on that one. According to the list all the later version have the detachable antenna and less flash. So 1.5 would be better I'm guessing.

Can pick up of them up for $39
