Help implementing QoS

Post by badhon_raj »

Hi, I'm using gargoyle firmware on a TP-Link WR740N router. I'm sharing my connection with my two roommate.
I've read the documentation on QoS. But I'm being unable to solve my problem.
My connection speed is 320kbps. I want my roommates to have full speed while I'm not using. But If I am browsing/downloading watching anything, it should get priority over them. I understand in gargoyle the concept is not "priority" but speed limit.
But the problem in my case is, we have a FTP server from our ISP at http://10.233.233.x/
We get 80-90Mbps download speed there. Now if I set Total Download Bandwidth: 320kbps at QoS (Download), then downloading from that ftp site also gets capped. If I set total bandwidth 80Mbps, then QoS fails to function. I can't browse if my roommate download something with IDM.

Is there any solution to this?
Thank you.

There is no way to exempt traffic from QoS rules using the Gargoyle UI.

Some command line techniques have been discussed on the forum see http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... ass#p18818
Linksys WRT1900ACv2
Netgear WNDR3700v2
TP Link 1043ND v3
TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1
Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH2
WRT54G-TM
