Support for Buffalo WZR-HP-G450H

Post by totsubo »

What the current status of the stability of Gargoyle for the Buffalo WZR-HP-G450H? I'd really like to migrate from DD-WRT and give Gargoyle a try.

I see there is a 1.5 (experimental) version: gargoyle_1.5.10-ar71xx-generic-wzr-hp-g450h-squashfs-tftp.bin

But before trying to install this I'd like to know how 'experimental' it is. I.e. it mostly works or it's still in alpha and is doesn't really work.

Thanks!

It looks like it's supported by OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment 12.09

http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_a ... x/generic/

There is an official release for that router - so it's supported

Read this page though:

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/buffalo/wzr-hp-g450h

No mater what, you are flashing 3rd party firmware, and there is always
a risk that the router could have a bad flash and you have to recover
via Serial or via TFTP recovery

If you are not comfortable recovering a router - don't flash either
OpenWRT or Gargoyle 1.5.10

It SHOULD work - but I've experienced bad flashes on my own
devices and had to TFTP and/or Serial recover my
WZR-HP-G300NH (which is very similar to the WZR-HP-G450H)

Gargoyle 1.5.10 is the only version you should try and flash,
earlier versions may not have full hardware support for your
router and will result in you having to do the recovery.

Thank you for the quick reply, I think I will give it a try.

I'm a bit unclear on the steps for installing Gargoyle though. Do I need to first flashOpenWrt and then Gargoyle on top?

Or should I just follow the steps listed here:

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... -hp-g300nh

But use this file for flashing:

gargoyle_1.5.10-ar71xx-generic-wzr-hp-g450h-squashfs-tftp.bin
