I have recently purchased a WR1043ND router and have been reading through the website and the forums. I think all I've managed to do is confuse myself (admittedly not a very difficult task). The download section of the website states that I should load V1.3.14 experimental, but I've read on the forum that others are using V1.5.8 with no issues. Should I go straight to V1.5.8 or do I have to load V1.3.14 first then upgrade? Then there's the whole OpenWrt, Kamakazie, packages, images - which should I use ??? Help please
I could really use a 'step-by-step' set of instructions on how to get Gargolye loaded and running on the new router.
Since you are upgrading from the factory firmware use
gargoyle_1.5.9-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin
Which can be found in the download section (Atheros AR71XX) of this website.
Step1> Download file
Step2> Perform firmware upgrade using the file you downloaded and the appropriate pick on your routers web page.
Step3> Have a cup of coffee while the software updates.
Step4> Login into Gargoyle, experiment, search the forum, post if you cannot find what you need.
One more thing I found recently, sometimes you need to rename the gargoyle file to something simpler filename wise e.g. Image.bin in order for the standard TP-link firmware to be able to use the file.
