Disabling DHCP

Post by ecbrad »

Hi,

I have successfully installed Gargoyle on my new TP-Link 1034N router that I purposely bought for the process.

I'm trying to manage our limited download allocation, particularly from my wayward son

I have a Netgear CGD24N Cable modem/router supplied by my ISP.

I bought the TP-Link, installed Gargoyle and successfully installed it. Hooked it up to the netgear modem via the wan port. I have devices connecting to the TP-Link with reserved IP via Mac address and it's working great.

The issue is that despite disabling NAT on the Netgear CGD24N if you plug an ethernet cable into it, it will happily provide an IP address and allow internet connections.

How can I make the TP-Link the only device on the network that will allow internet traffic and manage it?

I have thought that disabling NAT would have stop allocating IP addesses but I was obviously wrong. It does on the TP-Link but not the Netgear =(

Any hints or tips really appreciated.

Cheers,
Brad
