How to flash a wndr3700v1?

Post by guyso »

Hi, I have previously successfully flashed a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH following your detailed instructions. I have now bought a WNDR3700v1 router and I would like to flash it with Gargoyle. Unfortunately I can not find instructions for a WNDR3700v1 on the website.

From reading it appears I can use the firmware update function in the existing GUI with the file 'gargoyle_1.5.8-ar71xx-generic-wndr3700-squashfs-factory.img'. Could someone please let me know if there are detailed updating info or otherwise is it OK to use the approach I have outlined above. Thank You.

Hi, just wondering how you went with the flash of the WNDR3700v1 - I have a new WNDR3700v2 that I am very nervously looking at flashing as well.

Hi, Mine flashed perfectly using exactly the method detailed in my first post. I was starting from the factory firmware.

I set-up an ethernet link direct to a PC which was not on my network, that is it was only connected to the router. I transferred the firmware mentioned in my post to the PC and browsed to this file in the router configuration menu and then updated. As you have a version 2 you will need different firmware. Took about 5 minutes and then I was able to login using the 'admin' login and 'password' as the password. All went well. If you do give it a go, start the update and go and do something else to avoid the temptation to touch anything while it is updating.

Hope this helps and yours goes as smoothly if you give it a go. No promises.
