I have my 1043ND set up as a wireless repeater. I was on 1.5.6 and now 1.5.8, and experienced the same problem on both versions of the firmware.
Basically it seems as though the link between my 1043ND and the main router drops out - the secondary WiFi network remains up, but everything grinds to a halt intermittently.
logread gives me this, over and over again:

I've tried to change the channel width to 20MHz, 40MHz (above) and 40MHz (below) but nothing seems to change.
