Hi,
I'm new to Gargoyle and need some help about the router's settings. I bought an Asus WL520GU and put in the Gargoyle firmware v1.0.10.
I love the quota feature. However, I'm having difficulty while trying to use ftp and bt. I am unable to download anything using either of the methods. Everytime I do bt, the router freaks out and my web surfing speed become very slow or not responding. And it seems only my computer has been affected. My flatmate has been playing online game the whole time without noticing any problem.
I tried port forwarding 20-21 & 6881-6889. I then tried turning off XP's firewall. Today I tried to set the Exception rule to allow All Network Access. Still no luck.
To regain my web browsing speed, I did ip renew, reset network connection, restart computer. Usually when I reboot the router my connection will go back to normal. Since today I put in an exception rule, I have to disable the rule before the connection return to normal.
Can someone kindly show me what I should do to allow ftp and bt? Thanks in advance.
And thank you Eric for putting up the time and effort for making Gargoyle.

Re: How to enable ftp and bt?
I would try one thing first.
Assign your computer a static IP
Put your computer into the DMZ
Then try the bittorent and ftp
If the router still freaks out, somehow, those 2 are using way too much of the router mem and cpu.
You might have to goto your torrent program and limit the upload bandwidth and also limit the # of incoming connections.
If the router doesn't freak out while your computer is in the DMZ, that means your rules are not setup properly or the QoS is not setup properly. You might want to post what you have setup and then other forum users can tell you what to change if something is wrong with the configuration.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll try it out once I got home from work.

Re: How to enable ftp and bt?
Thanks DoesItMatter for your suggestion.
I think I figure out what causing problem with BT, but haven't fix the ftp yet.
Setting 1: I tried putting my computer on static ip and put it into DMZ. I also alter the Total (Upload/Download) Bandwidth settings in the QoS according the result from speedtest.net.
Then my bt client (Flashget) starts to download the file!
Setting 2: I removed my comp from DMZ, and the bt still works.
Setting 3: I disabled the portforwarding for bt and it still works!
I suppose my QoS settings was the cause of not being able to use bt.
However the ftp side is still not working. I tried to download a file from ftp by clicking this link ftp://ftp.ncsoft.com/Aion/Client/Torren ... ip.torrent in all 3 settings. Firefox showed that it has connected to the ftp, but it's not showing any download window.
I pasted the link to Flashget. Flashget shows that it gained connection to the ftp server, but it gets time out error after the data connection has been accepted. Then it keeps retrying and time out again.
I still have the portfowarding set up for ftp from port 20 to 21. Please let me know what other information needed to help solving the situation. Thanks.
