A couple questions about QoS that I would appreciate clarification on:
1) Is there any way to prioritize and Upload class over a Download class, or vice versa? I'd like to tweak QoS to be as optimal as possible for use in online gaming, and I was wondering if such a choice were possible (or does it even matter?).
2) Most QoS guides recommend that the user set his max upload speed to ~80% of the nominal upload bandwidth of one's internet connection. Yet the instructions in the Gargoyle GUI state that I should set it to 98% of that value. Which rule of thumb should I follow?
Thanks!

There is no reason to prioritize upload over download traffic since there is no competition between these two.
Please read http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... ryone_else especially example 3 which talks about how QoS works and how to setup QoS for online gaming. If you find anything comparable on the internet to this Wiki I would love to know about it.
I will not comment on the other 'guides' you refer to other than to say that most other router software QoS does not actually work. I will also say that most people who write such guides do not actually know their router's QoS does not work and also do not know how QoS should work.
Gargoyle has the best QoS for gaming. I recommend you only follow my advice when it comes to configuration.

Re: Prioritizing Upload Over Download, & Upload %...
Well, the rationale behind other QoS guides telling you to set your bandwidth to ~80% of what you usually get is because one's internet connection can vary in bandwidth depending on varying conditions--such as peak usage hours, or ISP slowdown. Thus, it's a good idea to set your max bandwidth to ~80% of what your usual attained speed, just to be safe, because your ISP isn't always delivering to you 100% of your maximum speed.
I was just wondering if this rule of thumb would apply for Gargoyle also.
