Interested in drawing comments on restoring saved config settings on different hardware running gargoyle.
Specifically:
WRT54G v3.1 running gargoyle 1.4.6
to
TL -WR1043ND v1.8 running gargoyle 1.4.7
Confident that the different chipsets will not matter, but the other variation's like USB support I am not so sure about.
Plan on making manual documentation of settings, upgrading WRT45G to 1.4.7 then giving it a try.
Upgrading hardware to better handle bandwidth and QOS.
I will supply the results of the restore.

Re: Restore Config Between Hardware
I wouldn't be so confident myself. Case in point, /etc/config/wireless should be different for broadcom and atheros chipsets.
WRT54GL v1.1
Gargoyle 1.4.7
Gargoyle 1.4.7

Re: Restore Config Between Hardware
Not advisable at all.
Backup configs are per router.
You should not mix/match restoring configs to different routers.
Especially restoring a Wireless-G config to a Wireless-N router.
Re-configure from start is your best option.
