3Com 3CRWER200 reset setups on startup

Post by ryellow »

Hi,

I´ve successfully installed Gargoyle 1.5.1 in my router 3Com 3CRWER200-75. It seems it' s working perfectly as long as the power is on the router. If the power is switched off and on, it starts as it was the first time (password change request etc. ). It does not keep the options setted. This behavior is the same as when the router were equipped with the 3Com firmware. Then could it be hardware? Could anybody gave any hints? Many thanks in advance.

which firmware did you use?

I'm guessing you might have more luck with 1.2.5?

First I successfully installed openWRT following exactly that link, but then I did again the installation, using the same steps, to install Gargoyle 1.5.1 using gargoyle_1.5.1-atheros-vmlinux.lzma and gargoyle_1.5.1-atheros-root.squashfs instead of the corresponding openwrt- files for the easy user interface.
Why do you think an older version should work better than a newer? My feeling is that Gargoyle is successfully installed and working. In fact, trough the GUI everything I set is working properly (DHCP, WiFi, SSID, etc.). But when I switch off the power and then switch on, the setup is lost.

1.2.5 is based on Kamikaze

1.5.1 is based on backfire

I'm going to suggest that older chips-sets like yours work better on Kamikaze?

This is not fact, only a suggestion
