Hi Eric
Thanks for version 1.0.0! I have however found a bug in the Connection -> DHCP -> Static IPs -> Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP function. If I select this check box and click the "Save Changes" button, it does not seem to be saved if I log out and back into the router. The router also does not appear to block MAC addresses with an assigned IP that is different to that setup in the table below.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug

Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
That's odd... I just tested it, and it seems to work fine. Do be aware that only access to the WAN/Internet is blocked -- the hosts with the static ip/assigned ip mismatch will still be able to access the local network.
Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
Hi Eric
No matter what I do, I cannot get the "Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP function" check-box to stay ticked. If I click on another page and come back to the DHCP page then the check-box is always un-ticked. This probably explains why the blocking function is not working.
The question is therefore why does my router not save the "ticked" status of this checkbox....

Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
Can you tell me what router you're using, what operating system your pc is running and what browser you are using? Also, what other services are you running on the router?
I would appreciate it if someone else on the forum could try this and either confirm the bug, or confirm that this seems to be working.

Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
Hi Eric
I am running Windows XP Pro, SP3 and using Firefox 3.5. I have the Linksys WRT54GL router but have replaced the 16MB RAM chip with a 32 MB RAM chip. Memory usage is currently sitting at around 57%.
I am running the router in Gateway mode and connecting via the "PPPoE wired" option to a separate ADSL router. I have enabled the Wireless AP with WPA PSK encryption.
I have two Laptops that connect via WiFi to the router and 3 PCs that connect directly via Ethernet connections . I have configured all PCs & Laptops to use static IPs based on their MAC addresses (in the Connection -> DHCP -> Static IPs section). I do not have a Dynamic DNS function enabled and am using the default Routing -> Active Routes options.
Under the Firewall section I have setup 1GB combined upload/download quotas for all IPs (resets monthly, 1st of the month 12am, quota is active all the time). I have also setup 3 QOS upload and download rules for the IP addresses of the 3 PCs with the "fastest" classification so they get priority if bandwidth is limited. I have also defined a "very slow" service class (5%, 1kbit/s) and assigned this to "BitTorrent" and "Any P2P" protocols
The only changes under the "System" section is to set the time to UTC+2.
Hopefully this is enough info!

Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
Hi Eric
I am not sure if this is related to the above bug, but I have the same problem with the check-box for Status -> Web Usage -> "Enable Web Usage Monitor". The router always shows this check-box ticked, but never shows any monitored addresses. If I un-tick the box, click on Save Changes, go to another router page and then back, the box remains ticked.
If I try to download the web usage log, I get a csv file containing an error message saying that the monitor is not running (I am not at my home PC - I forget the exact message).
The web usage monitor used to work for me in the pre-1.0.0 releases, but did once show this behavior (after restoring a config?). I suspect that there is a disconnect between what the GUI is showing and what is actually running on the router.
These are not major problems for me, but I suspect that this may be affecting others. Please let me know if I can assist in any way.

Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
Hi Eric
I still have this problem with the "Enable Web Usage Monitor" check-box being ticked but not actually recording web use. I am running FW version 1.0.2.
What can I do to try and resolve this?

Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
I'm really not sure what to do about this since no matter what I do I can't seem to replicate the error. I've tried windows, mac and linux as with Safari, Firefox IE and Opera browsers. I just don't see the error.
Try doing this: Go to the page causing problems using FireFox. Go to the Tools menu at the top and go to "Error Console". Hit clear to clear out all previous errors caused by other pages. Then try to configure the web monitor. Do any errors (you can ignore the warnings) show up in the Error Console? If so, could you post them here? That might help.

Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
Hi Eric
When I click on Status -> Web Usage I get the following error in Firefox (version 3.5.1):
Error: domainText is undefined
Source File: http://192.168.1.1/js/webmon.js
Line: 314
This error always re-occurs if I reload this page. I do not get this error on any other pages. In case it is relevant, I get the following three warnings on every page:
Warning: Unknown property 'MozOpacity'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://192.168.1.1/themes/default/common.css
Line: 41
Warning: Error in parsing value for 'filter'. Declaration dropped.

Warning: Error in parsing value for 'filter'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://192.168.1.1/themes/default/common.css
Line: 79
If I try to download the web usage data I get a CSV file with a single line:
"ERROR: Monitor daemon is not currently running or you do not have permission to perform request".

Re: Block MAC addresses assigned a static IP bug
Hi Eric
I have just installed Gargoyle 1.0.3 and the problem has disappeared! I have not changed anything else on my PC or setup.
Thanks again for some great firmware!
