Nanostation2 not saving

Post by tin »

The other day I tried to upgrade a Nanostation2 from an elderly version of Gargoyle to the latest stable version... In the process, I made it not boot - I think I used the wrong files (the old version wanted 2 files to upgrade).

Anyway, I got it going again using the TFTP method, and connected to it. But when I enter a new password and set the time zone, it just sits there saying it's saving and never goes anywhere. I've tried with 2 different browsers and 2 computers just in case, but the same thing happens.

It doesn't seem to be an issue with the unit either. When I install the proper Ubiquiti firmware, it works perfectly. I can set anything and have it save correctly.

I also tried flashing a slightly older version of Gargoyle, but I'm not sure what the result on that was - I think it did the same not saving thing.

Anyone got any ideas? The end result I need is a non-WDS repeater and am happy to use some other 3rd party firmware if I have to.

There appears to be a problem with routers running Atheros 231x/5312 with low RAM and small flash e.g. 16MB RAM and 4MB Flash with firmware > 1.3.9 and 1.4

1.2.5 should work fine

The Accton MR3201a works fine, 32MB RAM and 8MB flash on the current version of firmware

Well that sucks - They had 1.2.1 (I think) on it before and it was causing all sort of hassles with DHCP not forwarding and stuff. Was kind of hoping the newer releases might work better.

I'll try 1.2.5 on Monday. Might have to bite the bullet and pay for DD-WRT though. The 24 hour trial seemed to work OK in the brief time I had to actually test it the other day.
