USB Shared disk not loaded after every reboot

Post by varma »

Hi!
I'm here to ask if is normal that after every reboot I loose the samba shared disks.

Probably it occurs because the disk goes to sleep (I access to it not more than twice per day).
When I shut down and power up the disk, gargoyle automatically recognizes the disk and shares it again with the right parameters.
Could be the disk too slow to wakeup? Or the router too fast to check the USB port?
Maybe there is a way to set a periodical recheck of the USB connected devices.

I'm right now using 1.3.14 but I had this problem with old releases too.

Thank you very much.

Marco

PS I tried to wget the code to fix the "connected hosts" issue, but I got a server error (redMine err500). Is the server down or I'm having some problem?

PPS Does anybody know when a good USB2 driver will be written for my router? Because a shared disk transferring at 1.1 MB/s is quite useless...

About the samba transfer rate, the speed I have refers to a 54Mbps wireless windows client. (~1 MB/s)
Is this a normal value for an ext3 usb disk? (wd elements, with sata disk)
Is possible to improve the performances changing some vaule via shell?

I'm beginning to think of a hardware USB problem I read about.
But I lost the Warranty soldering the ttl probe and making a hole for
it, to unbrick the router.
How could I check it?
