Navigating in gargoyle terminal

If I ssh into my router, how do I navigate around? Dir does nothing... I'm blind...

I'm sorry if I upset you, but your reply was a little rude. I am a well seasoned Ubuntu user, and I am able to find my way around that distro in the terminal. If I type dir there, I get a listing. I had hoped for a helpful ( and courteous) reply. Thank you anyway for the pointer.
