Archer C5400 support

Folks, it's time for me to upgrade my router...
I'd really like to run gargoyle but can't find any hint from here or openwrt: any chance TPLINK's Archer C5400 will support it?

But then I'd be replacing my perfectly fine NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000 with an equivalent performance bundle - not a significant upgrade.

Being a coder, would my better route to port gargoyle to dd-wrt as it is supported on the R7000?
