I have a Linksys WRT54G2 V1.5, upstairs wired to 3 computers.
Downstairs I have a Linksys WRT54GS V1 with Gargoyle version 1.2.4 that is wired to a HTPC (Home Theater PC).
The two routers connect to each other wirelessly.
When the HTPC is wired to the WRT54G2 upstairs, all 4 PCs can Ping each other.
When the HTPC is wired to the WRT54GS downstairs, I can ping the 3 computers upstairs, but the none of the 3 computers upstairs can ping the HTPC.
When I try to ping the WRT54GS’s WAN IP from one of the 3 computers upstairs, I get “Destination Host Unreachable”.
When I try to ping the HTPC’s IP or the WRT54GS’s LAN IP I get “Request Timed Out”.
Here are my settings on the Gargoyle:
Internet / WAN
Configure Device As: Gateway (Default)
Connect Via: DHCP (Wireless)
Local Network / LAN
Router IP: 192.168.2.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Wireless Mode: Client
LAN DHCP Server is Enabled
Nothing else was changed.
For the TCP/IP settings on the HTPC, I’ve tried both “Obtain an IP address automatically” and a Static IP.
What can be done so that I can ping (access) the HTPC from the 3 computers upstairs? Would any changes to the “Static Routes” area in Gargoyle help?
Any help is Much Appreciated!

Which router is the AP and which is the wireless client?
What if you throw the wireless client IP into the AP's DMZ?
You should not have to worry about firewall, etc, because the
main AP will still have its firewall up and protecting the network.
When you throw the wireless client router into the DMZ of
the main AP - it should look like its all on the same device.

2x Asus RT-N16 = Asus 3.0.0.4.374.43 Merlin
2x Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH V1 A0D0 = Gargoyle 1.9.x / LEDE 17.01.x
2x Engenius - ESR900 Stock 1.4.0 / OpenWRT Trunk 49400

Thank you for helping me with my issue.DoesItMatter wrote:Which router is the AP and which is the wireless client?

WRT54G2 is the AP and WRT54GS is the wireless client.
I changed the following settings on the client:
Connect Via: Static IP (Wireless)
Static IP: 192.168.1.200
I changed the following settings on the AP:
DMZ Host IP Address: 192.168.1.200
Checked the Enable box on the DMZ screen.
When I try to Ping 192.168.1.200 from the computers wired to the AP, I still get “Destination Host Unreachable”.

I also tried wiring the client's WAN port to one of the AP's LAN ports and set the Connect Via: to DHCP Wired on the client. It gave it a IP of 192.168.1.105. I set the DMZ on the AP to 192.168.1.105, but still get “Destination Host Unreachable” when I try to Ping 192.168.1.105 form one of the computers wired to the AP.
