RouterStation Pro

Post by ddsforlife »

I'm a newbie and would like some help with an RS Pro!

I bought a RS Pro, Case, POE, and mini pci card (Alfa MB92M - Atheros AR9002 chipset).

After assembling, I have tried and failed installing Gargoyle. I'm at a loss where to begin...

Any help would be really, really appreciated! :)

Thanks a whole lot ispyisail!

Worked perfectly. :)

I used the last method without a hitch.

I flashed 1.4.4.

Would you recommend me upgrading to 1.5.1?

sure

The Routerstation is just about unbreakable, if you have a bad version just re-flash

I'm running 1.5.1 with no problems

I'm wanting to upgrade...but I changed the ip address of the router and can't login. :-/

I decided to reflash with 1.5.1

Do I use the same 192.168.1.20 or do I have to somehow reset it?

By the way, how can I reset it?

you have 3 options

GUI firmware upgrade (assuming you can get into the GUI)

Firmware recovery method (which you have already done)

OpenWRT reset

What do you mean by:

"Firmware recovery method (which you have already done)"?

I'm just wondering if I can Flash like I did previously, with the same ip address (192.168.1.20)...even though I changed the router ip address in the GUI?

Also, if I "reflash" do I flash with the upgrade .bin or with the regular 1.5.1?

The whole reason I was changing the ip address of the router is I was having difficulty getting an internet connection...I have another router that has a connection perfectly and I was trying to get it to work. I'm thinking the problem has to do with how I have it plugged into the RS-pro? Since I'm using POE, I figured on the LAN part of the POE, that went to another router...or dsl modem?

Thanks for your help!

Code: Select all

Most routers have a boot loader like the Bios on a PCs. The OS (openwrt) loads after the boot loader. 192.168.1.20 is hard coded into the boot loader and is discarded once the OS has loaded.

upgrade .bin is for GUI upgrades

factory . bin is for the "recovery method"
