WR1043 1.41 upgrade fail

Post by raiko »

I have upgraded two TL-WR1043ND to v1.41 both have problem.

One has been screwed up totally, this is what I have done:
1) backup from 1.40
2) upgrade to 1.41 with gargoyle_1.4.1-ar71xx-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade
3) restore from backup
4) only last 3 options can be displayed from the "Connection" and "Firewall" sections (other sections ok). ie, Dynamic DNS, Routing, Wake on LAN, Quotas QoS (Upload) and QoS (Download)
5) downgrade back to v1.40, restore from from backup, same thing happened.
6) restore from previous from v1.36, it dead!

Another one has more luck:
1) restore to stock firmware and fresh it to v1.41
2) setup wifi but could not be connected wirelessly (wire ok)
3) restore to stock firmware and fresh it to v1.40 (it was ok)
4) same as 2)
5) restore to stock firmware then to v1.36, wifi working

Now I am trying to make the dead router wroking again.

ok, followed the instructions from http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl- ... lsafe.mode, and now I have the dead router back :o

Try to reproduce the problem -- freshed it with v1.41 and restore it from the backup of v1.40. Some options missing again:

However, wireless is working this time.

Before you reloaded the old config, were all options still there?

Sounds like a bad flash.

You should again fresh flash your router and re-configure some
settings fresh - don't reload an old config.

Then see if all settings/menu options stay.

If it does work ok, maybe your old config file has gotten damaged.

All menu was ok when fresh. I were extracted the cfg files from the backup then put them back manually. Just too lazy to work out what cause it ;)
