TP-LINK Archer C7 v5, update from 1.12 to 1.14

Post by AX90 »

Hello,

I have currently

Model: TP-LINK Archer C7 v5
Gargoyle Version:1.12.0

Can I just update to 1.14 preserving the settings or I need to re-configure everything after updating?

Which file can I use?

You absolutely MUST NOT preserve settings.
You are moving from ar71xx to ath79, a fundamental change for your device.

If your device accepts the sysupgrade, great.
If it does not, you may need to flash the factory image again.

By the way, why stop at 1.14?

Thank you Lantis.

Factory image, you mean original TP-Link firmware?

What do you mean why stop at 1.14?
I did not see a newer version.

By factory, I meant the factory image for your device from Gargoyle. There are both sysupgrade and factory images. Generally factory is only used for the initial flash and then sysupgrade from then onwards.
In some circumstances (this might be one, see what happens) you might need to use the factory one again.

There are 1.15 beta images in the show and tell forum.
If you want the newest fixes.
