LinksysWRT1900acs v2 bricked !?

Post by BitBlock »

Hello,
first i have to say sorry for my english.

I tested Gargoyle 1.13 on my LinksysWRT 1900acs v2 and found it to be very good for my needs.
But than i got stupid and build the version 1.15 and flashed it.
The firmware was buggy so i decided to give 1.14 a try than build it and flashed it. So i did everything as before but now the Linksys won't boot. The power LED is flashing constantly and the lan led is lightning when a cable is plugged in. No WLAN and i get no dhcp response. When i set static ip i cannot ping 192.168.1.1.
I tried than the 3times turn on and off to get to a working partition but no matter what i do the linksys just blinks and he dont boot. I tried a reset with the button no change.

Have someone an idea what i could do to get the Linksys working again ?

Thank you in advance ...

If you can’t get any successful boot from either partition then you must use a serial interface to debrick.

I would be interested to know why you thought 1.15 was “buggy”. There are prebuilt images did you try one of those? Perhaps your build was broken.
And there was no 1.14 for your device, so whatever you built was very likely broken.

No 1.14 !? Then make it a sense that i have make/build bulls**t.
What does not make sense that i can't switch to an bootable partition ( the device has two ).

So i must open the router and connect serial to usb :(
Can you give me some advises in the right direction how to make it ? I mean which Programms ( i use Debian 12 ) and so on.....

thanks !

You need a 3.3v usb to serial converter. The way to hook it up is described in the link I provided.
For software you have hundreds of options. I use Putty.

You will need a factory image to flash.

I’d suggest googling for others who have done serial recovery of your device for guidance. It is not difficult, but you must get the steps right or you can risk making it much worse.

Ok thank you for your guidance ! I will try it ....

You asked what was buggy on 1.15 that was that often stands in the GUI "undefined" for example when i reboot in the field that appears there just stands "undefined".

Yes, that is highly indicative that your build failed. It is likely you did not have python3 available as python in the PATH or ENV. Those problems are generally limited to the GUI, it would have functioned ok (a few glitches).
Please check your build environment has all the prerequisites carefully. Once you have the device back up and running let's get your builds working. One problem at a time :)

Hello,
can you say if this cable the right one !?
DEWIN USB-zu-TTL-Konverter, PL2303HX RS232-Upgrade-Konverter USB-zu-COM/TTL-Seriell-Adapter STC-Downloadkabel https://amzn.eu/d/coBOZXn
Because you say i need 3,3V cable but in the HowTo's i found there stands i dont have to plug that "power" cable or i destroy my router. Or have the 3,3V also on tx rx and ground an inpact ?
I absolutely dont have a plan.
Would be nice when you could help.

It must be 3.3v tx rx. You are correct to not connect power.
Read the wiki, it tells you that they are a 2mm pitch pin. Most cables you can buy are 2.54mm so you will have difficulty attaching the pins. If you can find 2mm is best otherwise you might need to cut/shave to fit.

Perhaps you don't have the right drivers?
