When downgrading the firmware (1.12.x from 1.13.x) the dialogue box suggests the firmware in not compatible.
Forcing the downgrade works.

Can you please confirm the names of the two images you use to do this?
I suspect this is due to the ar71xx <-> ath79 change, and is completely expected (and harmless).
It would be important not to preserve settings though otherwise you'll soft brick.

Forcing works, so no big problem.
I did make a brick
but AR150 has an excellent recovery procedure. I knew this when getting wild.
