I am unable to find any information online whether my old Linksys wrt54GC is compatible with Gargoyle. Kindly provide information as although it's an old router, I want to prevent bricking it.

Hi, not even close to possible.
Whether you've got the v1,2 or 3, you're at least 2MB (bare minimum) short of being able to even load an ancient version of OpenWrt (let alone Gargoyle).
