It's an issue with the driver which is largely closed source and has been abandoned by the developers (company was sold and acquired).
It doesn't look good for improvement.

wrt32x, and any of the wrt series which rely on the mwlwifi driver.

I'm using a Netgear r7800
I'm waiting to see what we can do with 802.11ax. There's a few high end devices there but not much support.

The wrt32x is still a fantastic router. I'd just strongly consider a separate AP if you have clients it doesn't work well with.

I can no longer purchase WRT32X or Netgear r7800
