WAN (PPPoE) keeps disconnecting
I have a att DSL connection (1.5 , 0.256) that I normally have my router manage the PPPoE for years my setup worked fine but DD-WRT builds this year for me had no wlan connection at all so I came to try Gargoyle again .
I set up PPPoE and all look ok until I start something like a game , YouTube , Facebook or windows update.
Doing nothing and it holds a uptime over 45minutes but them moment I do anything more then just a simple webpage it disconnects .
Am I missions something ?

Re: WAN (PPPoE) keeps disconnecting
What version of gargoyle?
Re: WAN (PPPoE) keeps disconnecting
1.12 stable
If my memory is correct I had the same issue last time I tried to use gargoyle for my main router when 1.6.2 first came out.

Re: WAN (PPPoE) keeps disconnecting
You could try 1.12.x which is actually more stable than "1.12 stable"

Don't use a backup file or try preserving setting on upgrade.

Re: WAN (PPPoE) keeps disconnecting
I installed OpenWrt 19.07.3 on my main router to see if it was a gargoyle problem only or a OpenWrt problem and found out OpenWrt has the same problem keeping a connection .
I made a post on the OpenWrt forms and hopefully will have a solution soon .

Thanks for the update
Re: WAN (PPPoE) keeps disconnecting

Gargoyle:
a) Edit the /etc/config/network file and add the option to the WAN Interface:
Code: Select all
option force_link '1'
Code: Select all
rm -f /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/modemaccess.sh

Turris Omnia with OpenWrt 21.02 - Tested

Re: WAN (PPPoE) keeps disconnecting
Force Link helped some but I still lost connection .
If I could find the info about the speed of the pppoe on openwrt I could make sure it is requesting the right speed.
