Gulp. These roads both look like narrow twisty cow-paths that assume facility with Linux. I am not Linux adept.

It seems that the router was mailed to me from a town near Boston. If that is gargoyle world headquarters, maybe I can convince “Erik” that I should drive there and swap what I have for a fresh one.

I think i need to stop at this point. It would actually be better for me to just buy another gargoyle router rather than trust my Linux skills.

Thank you very much for weighing in. I might add that 30 years ago I visited Prague and Olomouc. I remember that the train between them had instructions in four languages. None of them English.

So if ping works, try GUI http://192.168.1.1 or https://192.168.1.1 or https://192.168.1.1:3001

If it doesn't work - so you changed your login settings incorrectly and in your case it's better to reset it to default and start over from scratch.

Maybe I'd wait for more ideas. Greenshot app is a good choice for future help.

Hang tough

Its not that bad, we can talk you through baby steps.

But you do need to stay focused, nothing worse than a user giving up just before the finish line.

Here is a video for method 2.
(no linux command line)

Tip: You need to try a couple of times to catch the correct timing

and wouldn't it be enough to hold a 10s reset button? This would delete the configuration and the router will default to.

Is this a new method?

I could find no reference for this method?

I don't know if it's new, but at least I have this information in /etc/config/system:

Code: Select all

config button 'reset_button'
	option button 'reset'
	option action 'released'
option handler 'logger restore defaults ; /sbin/firstboot -y; reboot ;'
	option min '3'
	option max '90'

Wow. I’m in using 192.168.1.1. It took the password I set.

I will try to attach a screen shot, but the ones I have tried so far were rejected as too big.
