I am currently evaluating a comfast CF-WR650AC
Chipset QCA9558+QCA9880+QCA8337N,720MHz CPU
Can anyone advise me which firmware I should try ?

Unfortunately the device is not supported by Openwrt and therefore by Gargoyle.
It looks like in mid 2017 someone attempted to add support, but then stopped for some unknown reason.
You’ll need to find a different device.
