The experimental branch is likely more to a snapshot build of the next release, than a branch where features are still being "tested" and prone to unexpected errors. It's actually more stable as well. Read this post from a dev regarding this.
Just remember, it's quite difficult to get the hack to work. It may be a concern if you are using wifi at work and someone is keen to break in but in a home network, you'd need a pretty dedicated hacker to drive by your home to hack your wifi. In an apartment block it may be a different story.

That is the expected behaviour.
You can’t detect your own network because you need to (temporarily) stop transmitting it in order to detect others.
I have considered the ability to overlay a “virtual” copy of your own network, but have not yet.
