AP setup help.

Post by riaz »

I'm using a device called OMW from anaptyxmesh to do all my dhcp routing. I have an MR3201a with gargoyle on it. I want it to take the signal from the OMW and repeat the signal.

Internet -> OMW ->wired-> MR3201a

what settings should i be setting gargoyle up with?

I've tried it as a gateway, under connect to internet i say DHCP wired, and WAN. then under Router IP i give it 101.245.47.2 and the Gateway i set at 101.245.47.1 (thats the IP of the OMW)

And I put it in AP mode, and put set the wireless SSID.

Its not working, what am i doing wrong?

You want to choose Client + AP mode

Choose DHCP Client on the WAN side, so the MR3201a gets an IP

On the Wireless - setup an AP

What you have to decide on is whether or not you want the
wireless clients to be on their own subnet or not.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I'm still not getting it.

I don't see Client + AP anywhere.

At the very top: Gateway or Wireless Bridge?

If its gateway:
Connect via: DHCP (wired)
Ethernet port: WAN

LAN
Router IP: should this be this device, or the device doing all the dhcp routing?

Wireless:
AP, AP+WDS, or AD HOC?

Then under DHCP
I turn the LAN DHCP server off right?

What version of Gargoyle are you using?

If you select 'bridge' at the top you will see the desired selection under the wireless pick in the bottom section.

I'm using Gargoyle 1.25 for MR3201a.

Ok, I hit wireless bridge at the top:
then I get the options Router IP and AP/Gateway IP.
Router IP should be this device correct?
and AP/Gateway IP should be the device doing all the DHCP?

then under Wireless i have 2 options:
"Connect via WDS"
"Connect via Client Bridge"

I choose Client Bridge
and put repeater on enabled.

Doesn't seem to be working.

Please upgrade to v1.3.5. I think you will find what you are looking for.

I just upgraded to 1.3.5, and the Connection page looks exactly the same as 1.2.5. I also made sure it was 1.3.5 that I was looking at.

The settings I've mentioned above are those that I see for both, Gateway and Wireless Bridge / Repeater.

Ok I found client + ap mode.

I had to choose gateway.
then Connect Via: DHCP (Wireless)
then at the bottom I get the Client + AP mode.
I chose that.
Then on the very left I chose DHCP and turned it off.

Doesn't seem to be working still.
I want another unit to be doing all the DHCP routing. The gargoyle MR3201A is wired to it. And I want the MR3201A to be a wireless AP to my other main gateway device.

What should my configuration be?

thanks
