Re: QoS (Download)Active Congestion Control Firmware v1.3.5
Just wondering if this problem could be only be with the WRT54GL due to ram constraints, as I seen the same thing happen with my router too its seem's to be running at around 97%, so I took it out of service and now using the WRT54GS and don't see this problem at all.

Re: QoS (Download)Active Congestion Control Firmware v1.3.5
My current theory is that it is due to RAM constraints which are stretched to the limit during boot due to all the scripts and processes that are forking.
Anyway I don't think that qosmon should end up running like this regardless of RAM constraints so I am trying to get it to do something else.

This would be really good if something could be done as just on a fresh install with no configs done at all the ram status is very high.pbix wrote:Anyway I don't think that qosmon should end up running like this regardless of RAM constraints so I am trying to get it to do something else.

The active congestion controller uses very little memory itself but it is a fact that Gargoyle can chew into most of the memory of a 16Meg router. Frankly the subject of Memory utilization under OpenWRT confuses me. I prefer the utility 'htop' which you can install manually and run from the command line to inspect your memory situation over the simple display one gets on the Gargoyle status page.
Now recently I did work with a WRT54GL user that was having trouble getting the ACC to come up properly when the router booted. In the case of this user once the router was finished booting he could start and stop the ACC and it worked fine. I have resolved that issue in the REPO and the fix will appear in the next release whenever Eric decides to make one.
So in short if you have a 16Meg router and after booting your router with the ACC you have issues you will likely get relief in the next build. But do not expect any significant change in your displayed memory utilization as a result of this change.
If you want to try this change immediately your choices are two. Either PM me a request including a valid E-Mail address and the build you need and I will send it to you or you can build out of the REPO yourself.
What specific issue are you having that makes you not like the memory display? For the record when I use 'htop' my WRT54G-TM shows 10Megs used and my status screen shows 22Megs used so go figure.
