WD Mynet n750

Post by kyoten3 »

Hey everyone I have ran into a bit of a problem with my new (to me) router. Everything was working fine for about a week, came home the other day and my wireless was down. When i checked the router it appeared to be unplugged but it wasnt. I have moved it since to another outlet but no dice. No lights at all on the front even when first turning it on, when i connect the power the green and yellow indicator lights next to each ethernet port flash but thats it, Tried to put it into recovery mode but nothing, none of the lights on the front flash at all and when i connected it directly to my pc all i get is cable disconnected, even used port 1 and forced ip 192.168.1.50 but nothing. Is it dead? Any advice

Hi mate can you try a different power supply. If it will not even go in to the recovery mode it's not looking good. :(
Did you try this?

Sorry all for the very late reply, we have had a time in the last week. I did test it with another power cable and still nothing, however something of note, not sure if this was caused by something in the Gargoyle software or just the router its self. I brought it to work with me and tinkered with it a bit, got no where so i just left it sitting there, plugged up. Came back about an hour later to unplug it and the router was scalding hot, like it was too hot to hold onto. I think that is what killed it, overheating. I have since ordered a new netgear router that is on the supported list wndr3800 and it will be arriving thursday so round two, this time i will be putting the router on a usb notebook cooling pad/fan.

Hi mate sorry to hear the wd is ded! :(

That is very strange that the wd got hot mate they are normally a cool running router. I think you may of bin sold a dud.

The 3800 is a good router to. I don't have one but I know lots of people who do.

Cant complain too much the seller was a good chap and refunded my money shipping included so no loss there. Yeah i think i just got a bad one, i would have taken another 750 but couldnt find one anywhere near what i paid for that, ended up paying about $7 more for the netgear but hopefully this one will last a bit.
