Hello, i am currently using version 1.6.2 on model TP-Link TL-WR841N/ND v8 (TP-Link N300) and have been for quite some time. I am using a TP-Link Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter as a receiver. I am operating on N+G+B at 40 Mhz and windows shows im getting the full 300 Mbps connection.
So heres my problem, i can download large files, very fast, from a single server/connection all day long. I can upload/stream data at max bandwidth no problem. The issues start to occur when i use Steam to download games, it works for a period of time (anywhere from 1-10 minutes) then drops my internet connection. The internet continues to work fine for everyone else connected to the router, but not for the computer doing the downloading. I have to reconnect my wireless device to the network through windows for it to start working again. I have tried everything i could think of, including throttling Steams download speed. It has had no effect.
I noticed this also happen while Torrenting, but very rarely, and it has lead me to believe it has something to do with connection limits. As ive recently found out, Steam utilizes many many simultaneous connections to its servers in order to download games. Im not sure on the exact number but the connection list was quite long when i took a look while downloading.
I tried limiting the max number of connections to 1000 (from default 4096) to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the problem? Does the new 1.8.1 firmware happen to address these sorts of issues specifically?
Thank you for your time.

Re: wireless connection dropping
Hi mate try messing about with TCP Timeout: and UDP Timeout:
Start by setting them both to 3600 and see how you go. This will use more memory though. If you do think about upgrading your fermwair don't flash any hier than 1.7.1 as you have just 4 meg of flash and you will have crashes.

Re: wireless connection dropping
At this stage, it appears to have worked! I need to do a bit more testing to confirm but so far, so good. I cant believe it was that simple ... thank you SO much! Also, thanks for the heads up on the update, saved me a lot of trouble.
If you dont see me post again or edit, consider it a complete solution to my particular problem.
Have a good one!

Re: wireless connection dropping
Ok, at first, it appeared to have solved the problem. Upon further testing however, it still disconnects my internet when downloading with Steam. Not sure if its useful information or not but all my wireless receiver drivers are up to date and i can still connect to the Gargoyle admin/settings panel when the internet disconnect happens, so its not disconnecting me from the router, just the net.
Re: wireless connection dropping
Can you please provide a logread when this happens.
