PPPoE (Wireless) Connect Via option gone after upgrade

Post by ysk »

I was using version '1.5.X (Built 20140325-1508 git@505e8dc)' provided by my Wireless ISP out-of-box (CPE-Outdoor) in Gateway/AP mode which uses PPPoE over Wireless to authenticate using username and password. It has only one Ethernet Port (PoE enabled) and extend connection to my another router inside home (D-Link 2750U), which further shares this connection via its own LAN & Wifi.

Today, I have upgraded CEP-Outdoor unit to Gargoyle version 1.8.1 without fail, but now when logged into to Web panel, Basic > Connect Via: PPPoE (Wireless) option from dropdown box is gone. I cant connect to my WISP if this is not available. :? screwed.

Any help, pointers, suggestion will be very helpful. Thanks for your time and efforts.

Post by Lantis »

That looks like a customised version of Gargoyle from your ISP. They probably added that option (among others) in.
I do not recall any official versions with that feature and I can't find that code version in the repository.

So you may need to call your ISP and tell them you've been a naughty boy and flashed a new firmware :)

Or, manually configure the network at the command line. However I can't find many references to wireless PPPoE so that could be a pipe dream.

@Lantis, I really appreciate it.
How does people build such custom stuff?

Is there anyway, that I can reconstruct it from config backup and list of packages where installed on device?

Re: PPPoE (Wireless) Connect Via option gone after upgrade

Post by Lantis »

Can you please email me your config backup?
I'll take a look and see if we can rebuild it.

I've pm'd you my address.
https://lantisproject.com/downloads/gargoylebuilds for the latest releases
Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.
