TL - WDR3600 5ghz issue
Hi i have the tp link wdr3600 have installed everything from stock to openwrt and the gargoyle branch liking this for the QoS active congestion stuff. Trying to enable dualband , 2.4ghz shows on inssider on laptop with wireless n, no 5ghz showing at all, no ssid showing up. Is this hidden? have gone into command line and viewed info wifi wlan0 and 1, 2.4 and 5ghz both show as link up and ssids are showing, any ideas would be great.

I have a TP-Link WDR3600 too. 5GHz shows up just fine for me.
You know that 5GHz has reduced range & can't penetrate barriers as easily as 5GHz does, right?

Re: TL - WDR3600 5ghz issue
Hi,
I'm also getting similar issue with my 5 ghz, my router and modem is in my room and I always have to manually connect my phone WiFi to the 5 ghz. Weirdly enough, sometimes it jumps to the guest 5 ghz no problem. I setup 4 channels (2 main and 2 guests, 2.4 Ghz and 5 ghz). I'm using gargoyle 1.9.1... It's happening to everyone in the household, we're 4 people. What can I do to fix it?

Most devices will hang onto a network as long as they can, even if a stronger network is in range.
As a result of this, devices don't handle roaming very well, which is why the router is supposed to handle it (usually).
Openwrt doesn't natively handle roaming.
If your device allows you to set a preference on its networks you can use this to help.
