Would like to 'See' my main LAN network from my Gargoyle AP
Hi there
This has perhaps been covered but my searches could not trace this...I'm not a firewall expert, and I think this is the area that needs to be actioned for me to be able to access my LAN that runs off my main 3G router - other computers, printer, usb backup. Connecting to the main router wirelessly allows me to see this LAN, connecting via my Gargoyle (Client+AP) allows me internet access but no access to the LAN. Could someone please instruct me or direct me to a source where I could learn how to get access to the network on the main router?
Many thanks
Ian

more information required
network diagram layout and screen shots of your gargoyle router config (main pages)
Firewalls block, that's what they do!
I suspect network design error?

Re: Would like to 'See' my main LAN network from my Gargoyle
Hi there
I'd love to attach a screenshot, but the 'board attachment quota' has been reached.
Anyway, the problem is definitely firewall design, as the internet works fine, just can't get to the main router's lan side.
Here is a copy and paste of the main status screen.
Device Name:Gargoyle
Gargoyle Version:1.9.1
Model:TP-Link TL-WA901N/ND v3
Device Configuration:Gateway
Memory Usage:13.7MB / 28MB (49%)
Connections:139/4096
CPU Load Averages:0.00 / 0.03 / 0.08 (1/5/15 minutes)
Uptime:0 days, 0 hours, 17 minutes
Current Date & Time:07/12/16 5:12 AM UTC+2
WAN IP Address:192.168.0.5
WAN Netmask:255.255.255.0
WAN MAC Address:30:B5:C2:B3:AF:77
WAN Gateway IP:192.168.0.1
WAN DNS Server(s):8.8.4.4
8.8.8.8
LAN IP Address:192.168.0.11
LAN Netmask:255.255.255.0
LAN MAC Address:30:B5:C2:B3:AF:77
Wireless Mode:AP+Client
Wireless MAC Address:30:B5:C2:B3:AF:77
Access Point SSID:Sitecreations-02
SSID Joined By Client:Sitecreations-01
The main SSID is my 3G router, at 192.168.0.1. The Gargoyle router connects to this with static IP 192.168.0.5. Then on the wireless side, I connect to the AP on 192.168.0.11. All fine for internet and managing the family's quota - the reason I'm using Gargoyle - and this works wonderfully.
Now, on the 3G router side, I have a printer, USB backup drive, other computers that I would like to access - but I'm blocked (as you said by firewall design) - so I'd be very grateful for some firewall configuration to get through to the LAN on the 192.168.0.1 router. Is this possible?
Many thanks
Ian

Please host images on a seperate site e.g. Imgur.
Can I also get a picture of your connection-> basic page?
I just want to confirm it is the same issue. I fixed this for someone about a month ago.

Re: Would like to 'See' my main LAN network from my Gargoyle
Hi there
Thanks for the very prompt reply! Before I go further, I'd just like to report that I did some more digging and found that most configurations used different IP address ranges for the LAN side, eg. 192.168.0.5 on the WAN side, and 192.168.1.1 on the LAN side, so I did that and now I can see my 3G router on 192.168.0.1 and the USB backup. So although I don't have this depth of network understanding, at least I've got a step further - is the terminology a different subnet?
Many thanks,
Ian

Correct, this is what I wanted to check.
Subnets should be different in your configuration.

Re: Would like to 'See' my main LAN network from my Gargoyle
Many thanks, I'm learning! Could you perhaps direct me to a page where I can wire the 801ND V2 to access it? This router's lan port is physically dead, I installed Gargoyle via the Wireless connection, and when it rebooted the wireless AP was off, so I have no way of accessing it.
Re: Would like to 'See' my main LAN network from my Gargoyle
does the WAN port work?
You could use failsafe to modify the settings and reenable the wifi.
That's quite technical though.
I can instruct you, but it's certainly not a beginners class lol

Re: Would like to 'See' my main LAN network from my Gargoyle
Hi there
The 801 only has one ethernet port. It is really dead, was so before I flashed with Gargoyle, and obviously without the wireless AP active on first boot, I can't get in. Bad planning on my side. Now I don't expect to use up any more of your time, maybe just a link to the procedure to open, solder, connect Nokia cable etc, I'll give that a shot
Many thanks
Ian

Re: Would like to 'See' my main LAN network from my Gargoyle
I'm not sure on that one sorry. And a quick google didn't turn up much.
With my multimeter and a couple hours I could maybe figure it out but no hope over the net sorry
