Hope this makes sense
I had a TL-WR1043ND v2 running Gargoyle 1.8.1.
Can I 'restore' the settings / configuration backup to a TL-WDR4300 which will also be running 1.8.1?
Just trying to save myself 20 minutes.

No.
You can restore some configs manually but not all.
Restoring from another device will brick it. It's recoverable 9/10 but it's going to waste more time than setting it up from scratch sorry!
